Ted Younger Family provides $1M gift
The Lynchburg Humane Society just got a big reason to celebrate: a generous $1 million gift from the Ted Younger Family is helping move their dream of a new regional veterinary clinic closer to reality. The donation honors a special bond—Billie Ray Younger adopted Margot, a chihuahua, from the Humane Society back in 2021, and she’s become a beloved part of their family.

With this gift, LHS has now raised $4.6 million toward its $7.5 million goal. They’re just $400,000 away from being able to break ground on the clinic this summer.

The new clinic will be built next to the Center for Pets on Old Graves Mill Road and will provide affordable, high-quality veterinary care for families across the region. It will also become the new home for the Spay/Neuter Clinic, which is currently located in Evington.
“We’ve seen incredible support from the community,” said Jill Mollohan, Executive Director. “This clinic will help keep pets with their families, expand our ability to provide spay and neuter services, and give homeless animals access to the care they need. It’s a project that’s going to improve lives—both human and animal.”
The Humane Society is now calling on the community to help raise the final $400,000 to begin construction. Contributions of all sizes are welcome—and supporters can donate online, make a multi-year pledge, or give through stock or IRA distributions.
