Pennsylvania 16-Year-Old Sets New Boonsboro and Tournament Course Record with a 65
BOONSBORO COUNTRY CLUB — The Donna Andrews Invitational heads into its final day with remarkable two leaders in their respective divisions —one a seasoned amateur legend, the other an on-course Golf Analyst for NBC Sports and former collegiate star—linked not only by their position atop the leaderboard but by a shared Wake Forest legacy.
Brenda Corrie Kuehn, a longtime fixture in amateur golf and current Senior Division leader, holds a two-shot edge heading into Saturday’s final round. A Wake Forest alum herself, Kuehn famously played in the 2001 U.S. Women’s Amateur while eight months pregnant with her daughter Rachel, who would go on to become a star golfer and All-American at Wake Forest.
That same daughter was a college teammate of Emilia Doran, who leads the Open Division at 5-under-par after posting rounds of 71 and 68. Now, at Boonsboro Country Club, her former teammate’s mother is leading the Senior field—bringing generations of elite golf full circle at one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier women’s events.
Adding to the storyline was 16-year-old Kayley Roberts of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, who fired a tournament and course-record 65—featuring eight birdies and an eagle (hole 16). After an opening-round 77, Roberts vaulted into third place at 2-under-par, proving that experience isn’t the only path to the top of the leaderboard. With a 163 AJGA ranking and an officially uncommitted college status, owning a Boonsboro Country Club course record and The Donna Andrews Invitational tournament record may alter her profile overnight.
These stories capture the essence of The Donna: tradition, talent, and the enduring ties that bind women’s amateur golf—across generations and alongside new stars on the rise.
Doran Holds Lead as Field Tightens at The Donna: National Champions, State Stars in Final-Round Chase
BOONSBORO COUNTRY CLUB – June 20, 2025
The Donna Andrews Invitational has become known for elite women’s amateur golf—and after Round 2, the Open Division leaderboard reads like a “Who’s Who” of former and rising collegiate golfers and also junior talent.
Golf Channel on-course analyst Emilia Doran, a 2023 NCAA Champion from Wake Forest, backed up her opening 71 with a 68 on Friday that included six birdies, bringing her to 5-under-par. Her two-day total of 139 gives her a one-shot lead heading into Saturday's final round. Donning her Wake Forest hat, Doran carries a two-day total of 139 into the final round, leading the field by as hot. Doran, also a past North & South Women’s Champion and runner-up at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, is living up to the hype. Her solid play has made her the player to beat.

Just one stroke back is Mary Grace Dunigan of the University of Delaware, who followed her opening-round 68 with a 72. A T12 finisher at last year’s Donna, Dunigan has put together a strong season highlighted by top finishes at the Badger and Red Rock Invitationals. Her ability to navigate Boonsboro’s deceptive greens—paired with an impressive total of nine birdies and one eagle over two rounds—makes her a serious threat heading into Saturdays final round.

The low round of the day belonged to uncommitted Pennsylvania junior standout Kayley Roberts, who shot 65 to rocket up the board to solo third at 2-under. After a bogey on the relatively easy 5th hole, Roberts went on to birdie five of the next six holes. Roberts prior claim to fame includes being a national finalist at the 2024 Drive, Chip and Putt National Championship, finishing top 10 in the last 4 AJGAs including a T2 finish, and shooting 70 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifier at Knoll Country Club last July.

Makayla Grubb, the reigning VSGA Amateur Champion and All-State performer, is tied for fourth at even par. The uncommitted Virginia native continues to shine on familiar turf, turning in rounds of 71 and 73. Grub doubled her par performance with 16 pars Friday versus only 8 on Thursday. Sharing fourth position is Lauren Slatton, the incoming UAB freshman and Tennessee State Champion, who shot 70-75 over the first two rounds.
The logjam at T6 (+2) includes several heavy hitters:
- Sydney Hackett of Western Kentucky, the reigning Conference USA Champion.
- Sarah Lydic, whose elite junior resume includes top AJGA wins.
- Carter Bransford, another uncommitted player with a top-3 finish at the PKB Tournament of Champions and a string of strong PKB performances this season.
Also, in contention after surging up the leaderboard is Sara Adams of Augusta University, whose 69 today brought her to +3 and into ninth. A top 10 finisher at the Lady Bulldog Invitational, Adams is gaining momentum at the right time.
Tied at +4 are Anushka Sawant (Delaware), Jenna Madden (Furman), Clare Gimpel (Florida Southern), and Skylar Sload (Wake Forest/UVA). Gimpel’s 74.3 scoring average across 35 rounds this year at Florida Southern has been among the best in DII, while Sawant’s Four-Ball experience and NJ amateur pedigree show she can handle pressure.
Notably, Jackie Rogowicz, the 2021 Donna Champion, returned to the form Boonsboro fans have seen from her over the years by carding a 72 today to move into a tie for 18th at +7, and Ella Perna of High Point, who finished top 10 here in 2024, sits in the middle of the pack at +10.
With just six shots separating the top five, the final round at Boonsboro promises to be a showdown of national champions, state legends, and rising stars—many of whom are just one run of birdies away from etching their name into Donna history.

Senior Division Heats Up After Round 2: Kuehn Holds Narrow Lead at 149
June 20, 2025 – After two rounds of competition, the leaderboard in the Senior Division is tightening, with seasoned talent and clutch performances creating a thrilling path to the final round.
Despite getting off to a slow start Brenda Corrie Kuehn leads the field after carding a 77 in round 2, putting her at +5 (149). Kuehn came into Round 2 with the overnight lead and while her putter wasn’t as sharp today, her solid back nine play of 1 under 35 helped her maintain a narrow edge at the top.

Just behind her, two players are tied for second at +6 (150): Suzi Spotleson, who posted consistent rounds of 74 and 75, and Toni Notaro, whose 76 today kept her firmly in contention. Spotleson suffered a triple bogey seven on an otherwise solid round.
Judy Penman made the biggest move of the day, firing the low round of the tournament so far with a 2-under-par 71. A stellar front nine round including four birdies helped her climb from behind and join the tie for second at 151 (+6). Her charge is one of the most notable stories of Round 2, and she’s clearly one to watch entering the final round.

Meanwhile, Hui Chong Dofflemyer also made a strong statement, carding a 74 today to jump into a tie for fifth at 152 (+10) alongside Ronda Henderson and Anna Schultz, both of whom battled through tougher rounds. Dofflemyer had four birdies on the front nine carding a 33 while bogeying four of the last five holes.
At +12 (154), Kimbra Benson remains within striking distance, although she will need to bounce back after a second-round 80. A front nine 43 was followed with a 37 on the back for Benson. Several others—including Joan Gardner, Bev Lane, and Jennifer Kitchen—are lurking just behind, with scores clustered tightly in the 155–158 range.
Round 2 Highlights:
- Low Round: Judy Penman (71)
- Biggest Movers: Penman (9 shot improvement from R1), Dofflemyer (4)
- Tightly Packed Top 5: Only two shots separate the top four players, promising a dramatic finish.
As we head into the final round, the Senior Division remains wide open. With just a few strokes separating the top contenders and several players showing they can go low, anything can happen. Expect fireworks as the leaders tee it up tomorrow.
