Final Phase of Honor Garden
The Lynchburg Police Foundation (LPF) has announced the final phase of the Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) Honor Garden. The K-9 Garden will be adjacent to the existing Honor Garden, located at the entrance of the LPD headquarters in Honor of Chief Ryan Zuidema (Retired).
For more than 40 years, the LPD K-9s have been an important element of the police department family. Not only a member of the LPD family but also a family member of the LPD Officer who trusts their life to them as their handler. LPD K-9s are certified law enforcement and wear their LPD badge just like the officers.
The future K-9 Garden will soon break ground! This garden will have limited lifetime sponsorship opportunities for citizens, businesses and service organizations. Sponsorship opportunities include a granite plaque at the entrance to the K-9 Garden, recognizing the major sponsor; a life-size bronze statue of an LPD canine; one park bench and a reserved area to honor all past, current and future LPD K-9s.

The garden will also include a bronze plaque recognizing all donors at levels beginning with $2,500 up to $25,000. Pledges for donations can be made in two-year installments. https://donorbox.org/k-9-garden
The K-9 Garden will have its own dedicated brick walkway, and personalized bricks can be purchased to honor someone special in your life, your own career, your business or even your own beloved pet(s). https://polarengraving.com/lynchburgpolicefoundation
Initial estimates to build the K-9 Garden are approximately $100,000, making community support essential as this final phase of the Honor Garden moves forward.
More details and a rendering of the garden can be found on the LPF website at lynchburgpolicefoundation.org. If purchasing a brick while visiting the site installations will be completed prior to the grand opening in Spring 2027.
