The City of Lynchburg has announced the start of the demolition phase for the Miller Park Pool project, marking the next step in preparations for the construction of a new pool facility. The project schedule was developed by Lynchburg Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Lynchburg Public Works and in conjunction with the Timmons Group, and reflects the City’s goal of having the facility open and operational by June 1, 2027.
The demolition work will include the removal and off-site disposal of the existing swimming pool, kiddie pool, and kiddie/splash pool, as well as a small concrete masonry unit (CMU) structure. The project scope also includes limited tree removal and demolition of select portions of the existing pool deck, as outlined in the approved project plans.
In addition to demolition activities, the contractor will establish a designated construction entrance and install erosion and sediment control measures. These controls will remain in place until construction of the new pool begins later this year.
Burleigh Construction has been selected as the contractor for this phase of the project. The demolition work is scheduled to be completed within 90 days.
The parking lot at Miller Park Pool is currently closed to accommodate construction activities. The City appreciates the community’s patience during this phase and looks forward to delivering a new and improved pool facility at Miller Park.
