Lynchburg, Va. – July 17, 2025 – Framatome marked a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of its state-of-the-art expansion on Mill Ridge Road in Lynchburg, Virginia. This milestone reinforces Framatome’s longstanding commitment to innovation, job creation, and the region’s leadership in the nuclear energy sector.

“Today’s grand opening is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees, the support of our partners, and the strength of the Lynchburg community,” said Tony Robinson, CEO of Framatome Inc. “With this new facility, we are investing not only in our company’s future, but also in the future of clean energy and the economic vitality of the region. Framatome extends its gratitude to the City of Lynchburg, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and all partners who have contributed to making this vision a reality.”
Governor Glenn Youngkin, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, praised Framatome’s continued commitment to Virginia: “Framatome’s investment in Lynchburg is a powerful endorsement of the Commonwealth’s pro-business climate, world-class workforce, and leadership in advanced energy technologies. This new facility will help ensure that Virginia remains at the forefront of the nuclear industry for decades to come.”

Framatome’s expansion represents a $50 million investment in the Lynchburg community and its North American operations. The comprehensive project includes expanding Framatome's current footprint to accommodate over 500 new employees, adding a dedicated nuclear training center to support the next generation of small and advanced reactor technologies, modernizing existing office spaces and conference rooms, and increasing capacity for an innovation and design school. These enhancements will foster collaboration, support professional development, and ensure that Framatome remains at the forefront of nuclear technology and workforce training.
Framatome's expansion at the Mill Ridge Road location is also complemented by modernizations to its facilities on Old Forest Road and Mount Athos Road. These investments build on over half a century of collaboration with local and state leaders and support the continued operation of the North American nuclear fleet.
