$50 Million Facility Brings Police Under One Roof: MOWW Virginia Piedmont Chapter Among Those Memorialized

On Friday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m., the City of Lynchburg celebrated the grand opening of its new Lynchburg Police Department Headquarters, located at 3405 Odd Fellows Road, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event marks a major milestone in the City’s continued investment in public safety, innovation, and community partnerships.

The $50 million project, which began in 2016, has been nine years in the making and brings the entire department under one roof, unlike the previous location on Court Street in downtown Lynchburg. Former LPD Police Chief Charles Bennett expressed his excitement, saying, "I prayed I would just live long enough to be able to see it, and today, it's come to fruition."

The Lynchburg Police Foundation has partnered with the Lynchburg Police Department and the City of Lynchburg to establish a legacy “Honor Garden” as part of the landscaping of this new facility. It will be a place where community members reflect on the service, sacrifice of our police officers, and enjoy a tranquil park-like setting. Memorial bricks line the pathway to the Headquarters and the Community Room.

The MOWW Virginia Piedmont Chapter is now memorialized at the Honor Garden with an Honor Brick in the Honor Garden at the new Lynchburg Police Department Headquarters.
