Dr. Michael Okin presents ROTC Awards at a joint ceremony honored Army, Navy, Air Force and Space Force Cadets

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Past Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant Colonel Michael Okin, MD, USA (Ret.), a former physician with Central Virginia Family Physicians (CVFP) in Lynchburg, presented 12 ROTC awards at a joint ceremony held at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

The ceremony recognized exemplary cadets from all four service branches—Army, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force—who demonstrated outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and dedication to service.

A total of 12 cadets were honored, with awards distributed as follows:

  • Bronze Awards: 4 cadets
  • Silver Awards: 4 cadets
  • Gold Awards: 4 cadets

The joint ceremony, hosted by the UVA ROTC programs, underscored the shared values of discipline, service, and excellence across all branches. Dr. Okin’s presence brought both military gravitas and a deep connection to the Central Virginia community.

As a Past Commander-in-Chief of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW), Dr. Okin’s continued involvement in leadership development and recognition of young cadets exemplifies the organization’s mission to foster patriotism, good citizenship, and civic responsibility.
