The Greater Lynchburg region continued to show real estate and construction activity as summer rolled in, with a modest number of high-value home sales and of building permits issued for both residential and commercial projects. From single-family homes in Bedford to new development permits across Campbell County, the area's housing market remains diverse.
In the City of Lynchburg, the highest residential sale came in at $505,000 for lots 6 and 7 in Sheringham Place AKA 3815 Sheringham Pl, purchased by Leroy Cole Atkins III and Helen Smith Atkins from Gay C. Tucker. Sellers were represented by Daniele Mason with Blickenstaff & Company Realtors.

Close behind was the $500,000 sale of 2703 Rivermont Avenue, sold by Margaret Sleadd Whitaker and Margaret S. Whitaker to Jackson H. and Sydney A. Ankeney. Whitaker was represented by Billy Flint with Flint Property Group. Other notable transactions included a $495,000 sale in Cottage Hill and a similarly priced condominium in Carriage Square. These sales highlight continued demand in Lynchburg's established neighborhoods, especially along historic corridors and in private, amenity-filled communities.

Bedford County recorded the region's highest home sale, with a $700,000 transaction for 1064 La Casa Court from John Z. and Renee J. Kissella to Robert J. and Tamara R. Harris. Sellers were represented by Fred Cuffari with Smith Mountain Lake Homes.

Also noteworthy was the $645,000 sale in Forest Lakes at 1363 Summerpark Dr. in Forest and a $618,000 deal along Ivy Lake Drive. Sellers at Summerpark Dr. were represented by Robbie Stephens with Century 21 All-Service. The presence of luxury homes, Forest expansion, Smith Mountain Lake and access to quiet, scenic settings continue to draw buyers to Bedford County, where both resale and new construction markets remain relatively strong.

Appomattox County saw steady activity, led by the $390,000 sale of 2248 Springs Grove Road to Grayson T. and Brooke F. Gibson. Other top sales included a $302,000 home in Cannon Oaks and a $301,000 property on Vermillion Road.
In Amherst County, the highest sale was a $261,000 home on Burgess Road, followed closely by a $260,000 purchase on Meadow Green Court. A property on N. Main Street sold for $228,000. Amherst continues to offer affordable options for buyers looking for suburban space.
Campbell County’s top sale came in at $365,000 for a property on Sunnymeade Road, followed by a $359,000 home on Shannon Forest Drive and a $269,900 deal on Melissa Lane. The county also saw active land sales and purchases in subdivisions like Mitchwood Summits and Depot Road.
In building permit news, the Industrial Development Authority secured a $1.546 million permit for a new commercial building on Ewing Drive, marking the region's largest new project.

Equity Enterprises 1984 LLC pulled a $450,000 permit for a new dwelling on Leesville Road, while other residential projects valued over $350,000 were approved along Bear Creek Road and Oxford Furnace Road. Several permits for solar panel installations, pools, garages, and roofing projects signal homeowner investment in property upgrades across the region.
