Community fitness event aims to lift one million pounds in a single day
Lynchburg, VA – October 16, 2025 – The Heroes Home, a locally owned strength and fitness community, is rallying members and non-members alike for a powerful cause this October. The gym is hosting “Lift for a Cause,” an all-day community event with the goal of collectively lifting one million pounds to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout the day, participants will take turns lifting on two pink barbells, contributing their reps and sets toward the million-pound goal. Every lift—from a single rep to a full workout—counts toward the total, which will be tracked live on a massive whiteboard inside the gym.
“This event isn’t just about strength in the gym, it’s about the strength of our community,” said Owner Brandon Parr, founder of The Heroes Home. “Everyone can play a part, no matter their experience level. It’s about showing up, moving together, and supporting those affected by breast cancer.”

Participants are encouraged to wear pink, bring energy, and help keep the momentum going throughout the day. The atmosphere will be fun and upbeat, with music, community spirit, and plenty of encouragement as the total pounds lifted climb toward the 1 million mark.
“We want people to walk in, feel the energy, and know they’re part of something bigger than a workout,” added Co-owner Pamela Parr. “This is what The Heroes Home is all about—lifting each other up, literally and figuratively.”
