Amherst, Heritage, Jefferson Forest and LCA head to London Downs, while E.C. Glass, Liberty and Rustburg meet at Hat Creek

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Seminole District golf schedule splits into two groups Wednesday, Aug. 26, with seven area teams scheduled to compete at London Downs and Hat Creek.

At London Downs Golf Club, Amherst County, Heritage, Jefferson Forest and Liberty Christian Academy are scheduled to meet in a four-team match.

The grouping brings together several teams and players who have been among the area's leaders during the opening weeks of the season, including Amherst County's Caitlyn Baxter and Jefferson Forest's Conner Lamanna.

LCA has been particularly strong when its top lineup has been together. The Bulldogs won the season-opening Raider Invitational with a 309 and followed with a 295 at the John Scott Memorial. After finishing behind E.C. Glass in the Aug. 10 Seminole District match, LCA answered with another strong performance last week, finishing ahead of the Hilltoppers. The early results have established the Bulldogs as one of the area's teams to beat when their leading players are in the lineup.

Baxter has been Greater Lynchburg's top individual performer early in the season, including a 3-under 68 at Winton Farm last week. Lamanna missed that match while competing in an American Junior Golf Association event in Richmond, setting up the possibility of the two standouts competing in the same group Wednesday.

A second group of Seminole District teams will compete Wednesday at Hat Creek Golf Course, with E.C. Glass, Liberty-Bedford and Rustburg scheduled to play.

E.C. Glass has also been among the district's early team leaders. The Hilltoppers won the Aug. 10 Seminole District match with a 295, led by Nikko Guanzon's 69.

Brookville's Wednesday schedule had not been confirmed as of Monday.

The two matches continue a busy opening stretch of the high school golf season as teams begin to establish themselves ahead of district and postseason competition later this fall.
