Here are your top announcements from Bedford County, VA government for June 2025:
Fall sports registration opens June 3, and, for the first time, families will register through an online platform.
Bedford County Parks & Recreation is preparing to launch a new system called RecTrac for all Parks & Rec programming and rentals. Visit www.bedfordcountyva.gov/register to create an account.
On-site assistance is available at the Parks & Rec main office (1257 County Farm Rd., Bedford) on the following days:
- Saturday, June 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday, June 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Site preparation for the expansion of the New London Business & Technology Center will begin in June, which will temporarily impact some trails and main parking areas.
In 2024, the Bedford County Office of Economic Development received $1.5 million from Governor Glenn Youngkin’s Virginia Business Ready Sites Program and a $750 thousand grant from the Tobacco Commission. The funds are being used to further site development in the Center.
The New London Tech Disc Golf Course was impacted by the expansion and briefly closed this spring as staff relocated nine holes. The course re-opened to the public on May 31.

The first installment of 2025 real estate taxes is due by June 5, 2025.
Bedford County allows residents to pay real estate taxes in two installments. The first installment is due on June 5 and the second is due on December 5.

Bedford County government offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
The Waste Management Facility, gated waste convenience centers, and Bedford Area Welcome Center will be open for normal business hours.
Voters can head to the polls on Tuesday, June 17 to cast ballots in the Primary Election.
On June 17, voters will report to their respective polling places. You can confirm your polling place by using our online map and also view sample ballots.
You can also vote early in person throughout the month of June at the Bedford County Gym (1059 Turning Point Rd., Bedford) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 7, and Saturday, June 14.

Bedford County Parks & Recreation’s First Fridays outdoor music series continues on June 6.
Bring the family and a chair or blanket to Falling Creek Park (1257 County Farm Rd., Bedford) and enjoy music by Jenee & Fitz.
Kids’ activities and food trucks will also be available.
Local seniors are invited to a fun and engaging Senior Social event on June 12.
Come out to Blue Ridge Community Church (594 Blue Ridge Ave., Bedford) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free lunch, music, door prizes, and more.
