Tournament Record Holder Kayley Roberts Finishes Open Division Runner Up
LYNCHBURG, VA — On a week that brought together some of the finest amateur women’s golfers in the country, two champions emerged—each with ties to Wake Forest, and each showcasing poise under pressure at Boonsboro Country Club.
The 2025 Donna Andrews Invitational delivered exactly what it has come to represent: elite competition, deep camaraderie, and stories that transcend scorecards. Now in its seventh year, the tournament continues to grow in prestige and participation, with both the Open and Senior Divisions drawing impressive fields from across the country.
Eleanor
The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Eleanor Marjorie-Anne Washburn, the spirited daughter of Eric Washburn and granddaughter of tournament founder Steve Washburn. Born in 2018, Eleanor was a vibrant, feisty, and fiercely independent little girl who loved Taylor Swift, Frozen, and Tangled—and like her heroines, she met life’s toughest challenges with courage, grace, and grit. Though medulloblastoma claimed her life far too soon, it never touched her spirit. Her legacy now lives on in the strength and sisterhood of The Donna Andrews Invitational—an elite, female-empowering event where her “feisty little fighter girl” heart beats on in every champion crowned and every challenge faced with resolve.

Boonsboro Golf Tournaments
Whether it’s the men’s Fox Puss Invitational or the Donna Andrews Invitational, common threads emerge at Boonsboro Country Club: pristine course conditions, a well-run tournament and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for players. Throughout the week, competitors raved about their experience—on and off the course. Boonsboro once again. Off the course, players praised the tournament’s hospitality, seamless operations, and the strong sense of community that surrounds “The Donna.” As one returning competitor put it, “It’s the kind of event you circle on your calendar not just because of the competition—but because of how you’re treated from the moment you arrive.” The tournament has become not just a proving ground for elite amateur talent, but a celebration of sportsmanship, tradition, and women’s golf at its absolute best.

Donna herself
At the heart of the tournament’s success is Donna Andrews herself—a six-time LPGA Tour winner, major champion, and proud Lynchburg native whose presence brings both prestige and a personal touch to the event that bears her name. From walking the fairways with players to sharing encouragement throughout the week, Andrews embodies the spirit of the tournament: competitive excellence grounded in community.
What many don’t see is the engine behind the scenes—her mother, Helen Andrews, and tournament founder and chairman Steve Washburn, who together orchestrate a remarkable behind-the-scenes effort. From volunteer coordination to tournament logistics, Helen’s steady leadership and Steve’s vision and hands on approach have helped shape “The Donna” into one of the premier women’s amateur events in the Mid-Atlantic. Their dedication—supported by a small army of volunteers—ensures that every detail is covered, and every player feels welcomed. It’s a family effort in every sense, and one that continues to raise the bar for women’s amateur golf.

In the end, it was Emilia Doran and Brenda Corrie Kuehn who etched their names into the tournament’s growing history—one a rising on-air voice in the game, the other a seasoned legend whose legacy continues to grow.
Doran Closes Strong to Claim Donna Open Division Title at Boonsboro
LYNCHBURG, VA — Emilia Doran entered the final round of the Donna Andrews Invitational with a one-shot lead—and left with a six-shot victory.
With a closing round 71, the Wake Forest graduate and Golf Channel on course analyst capped off a steady and consistent performance to win the Open Division title at Boonsboro Country Club, finishing at 210 (−6) for the tournament. Doran’s three-round total of 71-68-71 was the only score under par in the field and a testament to her game.

The final day ultimately saw several challengers make a push, but none could match Doran.
Most of Saturday looked like a two-person race. Doran and first round leader Mary Grace Dunnigan were tied for the lead after 10 holes at -5. Doran finished the remaining eight holes at one under while Dunnigan finished at +6.
Dunnigan’s final-round 77 opened the door for tournament course record holder Kayley Roberts to secure solo second at 216 after posting a steady 74. Makayla Grubb and Lauren Slatton joined Dunnigan in a tie for third at 217.

Brenda Corrie Kuehn Wins Donna Senior Division in Tight Final Round at Boonsboro
LYNCHBURG, VA — Brenda Corrie Kuehn held off a hard-charging leaderboard to capture the Senior Division title at the 2025 Donna Andrews Invitational, edging defending senior division champion Suzi Spotleson by a single stroke at Boonsboro Country Club.

Kuehn, who entered the day tied for the lead with Spotleson, carded a 75 in Tuesday’s final round to finish at 224 (+8) for the tournament. The win adds to an already legendary amateur career for the Wake Forest alum, despite three bogeys down the stretch at holes 14, 16, and 18.
Spotleson kept it close despite not really getting anything going on the final day, shooting 76 for a three-day total of 225 (+9). Toni Notaro remained steady as well, finishing just one shot behind Spotleson with a 226 (+10) total after her second straight 76.
The top five also included Judy Penman (+11) who despite hiccups at hole 6 and 8, playing them five over par shot 76 on the day. There was a tie for fifth between Kimbra Benson and Ronda Henderson at +13.
