Early Voting for August 4 Primary Election Begins June 18
Bedford County voters will cast early, in-person ballots for the August 4, 2026, primary election at a new location this year.
Early voting begins Thursday, June 18, at the newly completed Bedford County Early Vote Center, located beside the Bedford County Registrar’s Office at 1251 Turning Point Road in Bedford.

The facility was built to provide additional storage for voting equipment and to better accommodate Virginia’s 45-day early voting period. In previous years, early voting was often held in the Bedford County Gym, limiting its availability for Parks & Recreation programs.

The Early Vote Center will now serve as the county’s primary early voting location, though the gym may still be used for higher-turnout elections.
The August 4 election includes both Democratic and Republican primaries. Virginia does not require voters to register by party, but voters may participate in only one primary. Voters will be asked at check-in whether they want a Democratic or Republican ballot.
Early voting hours are:
Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 19: noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday, July 25: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 26: noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday, August 1: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Early voting will not be available Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, or Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Parking directly in front of the Early Vote Center is currently limited. Additional parking is available on Turning Point Road near the Registrar’s Office and in the parking lot beside the Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue.
More information, including ballot drop box locations, is available at www.bedfordcountyva.gov/vote.
