Free family event at Falling Creek Park will feature first responders, touch-a-truck displays, live demonstrations, food trucks, and children's activities
Residents will have an opportunity to meet the people and organizations that help keep Bedford County safe, healthy, and connected during the annual Hometown Heroes & Helpers event on Saturday, June 13.
Hosted by Bedford County Parks & Recreation, the free community event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Falling Creek Park, located at 1257 County Farm Road in Bedford.
The family-friendly event will bring together local law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, parks and recreation staff, nonprofit organizations, community partners, and local businesses for a day of education, appreciation, and fun.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore emergency and service vehicles through a touch-a-truck experience, watch live demonstrations from public safety agencies and community organizations, and meet many of the professionals who serve Bedford County every day.
Additional attractions will include food trucks, local vendors, children's activities, entertainment, educational exhibits, and opportunities to learn about services available throughout the county.
“Hometown Heroes & Helpers is an opportunity to celebrate the people who serve our community every day while creating an experience where families can connect, learn, and have fun together,” said Lee Wittekind, Outdoor Events & Outreach Coordinator for Bedford County Parks & Recreation. “We’re excited to welcome residents out for a day of appreciation, education, and community spirit.”
