LYNCHBURG, V.A., January 1, 2026 – Destiny White and Colby Seamster of Madison Heights, Virginia, welcomed their daughter, Georgia Faye Seamster, at 12:03 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. Georgia weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 17¼ inches long.

White shared that she was not expecting a New Year’s Day baby. Her original due date was January 12, and she admitted she did not want a January 1 due date because her younger brother, Bryson, passed away on that date nine years ago. Now, however, White says Georgia’s birth on her brother’s anniversary feels like a gift from him and has helped transform the day into a positive and meaningful memory.
White described her labor as quick and unexpected. She came to the hospital after feeling pressure, not realizing she was already in labor. Georgia was born just over four hours later. Seamster joked that he nearly missed the birth after stepping away briefly to get a drink, only to rush back when labor progressed rapidly.
Although Georgia was born small, she has a full head of brown, curly hair and a soft, sweet smile. White joked that her daughter is already showing signs of being a “little firecracker.”

White is looking forward to bringing Georgia home and introducing her to her two older brothers, ages 5 and 2. She expressed gratitude for her mother, “Mimi,” who will be helping care for the family, as well as a close friend traveling to assist while Seamster works night shifts.
Local community members generously donated gifts and gift cards to celebrate the first baby of the New Year. Centra thanks all who participated in welcoming Miss Georgia to the community.
Welcome to the world, Georgia Faye Seamster, we are so glad you are here.
