Lynchburg, VA — Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) announces the appointment of Jeff Sydenstricker as the college’s new Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety.
Sydenstricker brings 25 years of law enforcement experience and a diverse range of qualifications to his new role. Prior to joining CVCC, he served as a patrol officer with the Greenfield, Ohio Police Department and as Assistant Director of Campus Safety at Ferrum College.
Since arriving at CVCC, Sydenstricker has held several key positions, including police officer, police sergeant, emergency management coordinator, and interim chief of police. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the college community.
“I’m honored to step into this role and continue serving the CVCC community. My focus is on fostering a safe, welcoming environment where students, faculty, and staff can thrive,” said Sydenstricker. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and strengthening our commitment to proactive, community-centered public safety.”
CVCC leadership expressed confidence in Sydenstricker’s ability to lead the department and promote a safe and supportive campus environment.
“Jeff has distinguished himself through his ability, professionalism, and collegiality in every role he has held at the college,” said Dr. Capps, CVCC president. “We are confident in his leadership and look forward to the continued success of our public safety efforts under his direction.”
