Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) has announced a collaboration with Liberty University (LU) following LU’s recent acquisition of technical trades education and programming at Virginia Technical Institute (VTI) in Altavista. Through this collaboration with LU at VTI, CVCC is expanding opportunities for students by enhancing access to additional programs and courses, providing more opportunities for those in the southern region. This initiative allows CVCC students to co-enroll in specialized programs, providing greater flexibility and new pathways to in-demand careers while remaining part of the CVCC community.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward in meeting the educational needs of our community,” said Dr. Jason Ferguson, associate vice president of workforce development. “By working together with Liberty University at VTI, we are able to provide students with more affordable, accessible, and expanded educational opportunities—ultimately enhancing their paths to success.”
For many years, LU in coordination with VTI has been recognized for offering reputable courses featuring NCCER-accredited curricula, preparing students for industry-recognized certifications and equipping them with valuable trade skills. This partnership allows CVCC to enhance course offerings while providing students with new financial assistance opportunities for programs that align with their academic and career goals. By increasing access to high-quality, affordable education, CVCC is not only supporting student success but also strengthening the region’s workforce by equipping graduates with the skills needed to meet industry demands. This initiative reinforces CVCC’s commitment to developing a highly skilled talent pool that drives economic growth in Central and Southern Virginia.
