LYNCHBURG, Va. — Gasoline prices continued their upward march across Greater Lynchburg this week, with every locality tracked by Lynchburg Agenda recording another increase. Amherst County came within a penny of the $4-per-gallon mark, while the City of Lynchburg posted its largest weekly increase in more than a month.
According to a Monday evening snapshot from GasBuddy, the City of Lynchburg averaged $3.59 per gallon for regular gasoline, up 20 cents from last week. Amherst climbed another 25 cents to $3.99, the highest average among local markets. Appomattox rose nine cents to $3.83, Bedford increased nine cents to $3.72, and Rustburg added eight cents to $3.85.
Across Virginia, Alexandria and Charlottesville shared the highest average among the markets tracked by Lynchburg Agenda at $3.89 per gallon. Richmond increased to $3.72, while Danville rose to $3.65, Roanoke to $3.64, and Virginia Beach climbed to $3.79.
Although Lynchburg remains the lowest-priced market in Greater Lynchburg, the city's 20-cent jump narrowed the gap with surrounding localities as gasoline prices continued climbing across Central Virginia.
