The Pump Prices we Benchmark
GasBuddy offers a range of tools beyond the headline average price, including real-time user-reported station prices, city and ZIP code comparisons, proximity filters, price trend charts, and regional price cycle tracking. For consistency in Lynchburg Agenda, we record pump prices at a specific time each Monday (3:30 p.m.) in each market to create a reliable week-over-week comparison. We intentionally avoid full-day averages because they blend price fluctuations over 24 hours, which can dilute real-time changes and mask short-term spikes. By capturing prices at the same time each week — and avoiding mid-week (Wednesday–Friday) volatility — we provide Greater Lynchburg readers with a clearer, apples-to-apples snapshot of what drivers are seeing at the Pump.
