Division to host welcome event on Thursday, July 17
(LYNCHBURG, VA) – Dr. Kristy Somerville-Midgette started as the new superintendent of Lynchburg City Schools (LCS) on July 1. Families, staff, and community members are invited to a special event to welcome her to the division on Thursday, July 17, from 4-6 p.m. at the Heritage High School cafeteria (3101 Wards Ferry Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502).
Guests can enjoy light refreshments provided by the LCS Education Foundation, hear a few brief remarks from Dr. Somerville-Midgette, and take the opportunity to say hello as we prepare for the new school year.
Dr. Somerville-Midgette brings more than two decades of experience in public education to LCS, most recently serving as the Division Superintendent for Brunswick County Public Schools. No stranger to Lynchburg, she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in special education from the University of Lynchburg as well as a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from Liberty University. She also served as an LCS special education teacher for three years. Learn more here.
