Week in Review: September 21-26
Business aviation at Lynchburg Regional Airport ranged from locally based Citation jets and Cirrus Vision Jets to NetJets aircraft, Pilatus PC-12s and an unusual series of Embraer ERJ-145 visits during the week.
The ERJ-145 activity stood out. Victory Air flights visited Lynchburg on both Thursday and Friday, including an aircraft that arrived from Statesville, North Carolina, Thursday before continuing to Myrtle Beach. Another Victory Air ERJ-145 made two Lynchburg stops Friday while operating between Statesville and Bradley International Airport in Connecticut.
Citation-family aircraft also remained active. Locally based CitationJet N469RB made flights involving Leesburg, Virginia, and Raleigh-Durham, while Citation Excel N936EA operated during the week between Lynchburg and destinations including Asheville, Boston and Wilmington, North Carolina. NetJets brought a Challenger 350 and Phenom 300 into the week's mix.

Cirrus Vision Jets continued to be regular visitors, including N26VJ, N264AN and an OpenAir Vision Jet operating as OPN64. Pilatus PC-12 N782DL also made multiple appearances during the week.

Overall airport activity varied dramatically. FlightAware showed 63 movements Monday and 45 Tuesday before activity dropped to just 31 Wednesday. Traffic rebounded to 198 movements Thursday and reached a weekly high of 261 Friday before easing to 112 Saturday.
Medical helicopter activity was also steady throughout the week, with PHI Health EC135s making flights involving Lynchburg General Hospital and other hospitals and medical facilities across Virginia.
Yes. With Sunday at 40, the week totaled 750 tracked flights/movements. The daily average was about 107, and Friday accounted for roughly 35% of the week's activity.
I think a By the Numbers box works particularly well this week because of the enormous Thursday-Friday spike.
