LCA, Brookville Advance to Regionals at London Downs

Liberty Christian shoots 305 to win the Seminole District regional qualifier, while Brookville takes the second team qualifying spot.

Liberty Christian and Brookville earned spots in regional competition Wednesday at the Seminole District regional qualifier at London Downs Golf Club, with LCA shooting 305 to win the four-team event.

The top two teams advanced to regionals, along with the top six at-large individuals from teams that did not qualify.

Logan Walker led LCA with a 2-over-par 74, the low round of the day. Tanner Hesse followed with a 75 and sophomore Matthew Stephens shot 76, giving the Bulldogs three of the day's four lowest scores. Baylor Ritter's 80 completed LCA's four-player team total.

Brookville claimed the second team qualifying position with a 333. Matthew Garner led the Bees with an 80, followed by Caeth McAndrews at 82, J.P. Newman at 84 and Noah Daniel at 87.

Rustburg finished third at 364, led by C.J. Jones and Mark Dalton with matching 88s. Landon Lewis was one shot back at 89.

Heritage finished fourth at 420, with Haven Manning leading the Pioneers with a 94.

At-Large Qualifiers

Because LCA and Brookville qualified as teams, their golfers advance with their teams. The six lowest scores from Rustburg and Heritage would therefore determine the six at-large individual qualifiers.

Based on the scores provided, those six are:

88 — C.J. Jones (Rustburg)
88 — Mark Dalton (Rustburg)
89 — Landon Lewis (Rustburg)
94 — Haven Manning (Heritage)
99 — Carson Bryant (Rustburg)
101 — Charlie Brooks (Rustburg)

That would send five Rustburg golfers and Heritage's Haven Manning to regional competition as individuals.
