Week in Review: September 28-October 4

Business aviation remained active at Lynchburg Regional Airport during the past week, highlighted by repeated Victory Air charter flights and visits from several larger and long-range business jets.

Victory Air's Embraer ERJ-145 regional jets were among the week's most noticeable visitors. An ERJ-145 operating as FTN3 visited Wednesday, flying from Statesville, North Carolina, to Lynchburg before continuing to Smyrna, Tennessee. Another Victory Air flight arrived Friday from Statesville and continued to New Castle, Delaware, with additional Victory Air activity extending into the weekend. Late Sunday, FTN3 arrived from Tulsa, Oklahoma, before returning to Statesville.

Flexjet also made several appearances. A Gulfstream G650 arrived Thursday from Charleston Executive Airport and continued to Washington Dulles, while another G650 arrived Sunday from Cleveland and departed for Charleston. A Flexjet Embraer Praetor 600 arrived Saturday from Miami Executive Airport and departed Sunday for Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Friday's traffic included Falcon 2000 N327LX, which arrived from Nashua, New Hampshire, and remained in Lynchburg for about seven hours before departing for Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport. A Hawker 800-series jet, Cirrus Vision Jet and locally familiar Citation II N49U were also among Friday's activity.

Citation-family aircraft were prominent throughout the week. Locally based Citation IIs N704DA and N49U made several appearances, while CitationJet N469RB returned Sunday from Columbia, South Carolina, before departing for Richmond. Two Citation Excels also visited within minutes of one another Sunday afternoon, arriving from Raleigh-Durham and the Florida Keys.

Pilatus PC-12 traffic included repeat visits by N782DL and N631DB, while Cirrus Vision Jets appeared multiple times during the week. PHI Health's Airbus EC135 N390PH also remained active on regional medical flights involving Lynchburg and hospitals across Virginia.

Sunday, October 4

Flight Notes: Sunday brought one of the week's stronger lineups of business aircraft to Lynchburg Regional Airport, including a Flexjet Gulfstream G650, two Citation Excels, a King Air 200 and locally based CitationJet N469RB. A Flexjet Praetor 600 also departed Lynchburg during the afternoon.

Flexjet flight LXJ658 arrived from Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport shortly after 9 a.m. aboard a Gulfstream G650 and departed about two hours later for Charleston Executive Airport in South Carolina. King Air 200 N442KA made another brief visit from Georgetown County Airport in South Carolina, spending less than 30 minutes on the ground.

Two Citation Excels arrived during the early afternoon. PJC22 came from Raleigh-Durham International Airport before continuing to Chester County G.O. Carlson Airport in Pennsylvania, while JRE864 arrived from the Florida Keys and departed less than an hour later for Port Meadville Airport in Pennsylvania.

CitationJet N469RB returned to Lynchburg from Columbia, South Carolina, at 1:45 p.m. and departed during the evening for Richmond. Flexjet's Praetor 600 operating as LXJ429, which arrived Saturday from Miami, departed Sunday afternoon for Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Victory Air also returned late Sunday, with ERJ-145 flight FTN3 arriving from Tulsa International Airport at 10:50 p.m. and departing shortly afterward for Statesville, North Carolina.

The two themes I would emphasize in the Week in Review are now pretty clear: the unusually strong run of Victory Air ERJ-145 charters and the variety of higher-end business jets, particularly the Flexjet G650 and Praetor 600, Falcon 2000 and Citation traffic.

Saturday, October 3

Flight Notes: Saturday brought several notable business jets to Lynchburg Regional Airport, led by a Flexjet Embraer Praetor 600, along with a Citation V, Hawker 800XP and Citation Excel.

Flexjet flight LXJ429 arrived from Miami Executive Airport shortly after 10 a.m. aboard an Embraer Praetor 600. Citation V N190JK arrived earlier in the morning from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Hawker 800XP N222KU returned to Lynchburg during the evening from Jacksonville, Florida. Citation Excel N936EA arrived shortly after midnight from Charlottesville. Victory Air's ERJ-145 operating as FTN1 also departed just after midnight for Statesville, North Carolina, following its Friday night arrival from New Castle, Delaware.

Flight Notes: Friday brought a varied mix of business and charter aviation to Lynchburg Regional Airport, including a Dassault Falcon 2000, Hawker 800-series jet, Cirrus Vision Jet and another Victory Air Embraer ERJ-145 charter flight.

Falcon 2000 N327LX arrived from Boire Field in Nashua, New Hampshire, during the morning and remained in Lynchburg for about seven hours before departing for Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport. Hawker N69FR arrived during the afternoon from Chester County G.O. Carlson Airport near Philadelphia and departed less than 30 minutes later for Richmond Executive Airport.

Victory Air's ERJ-145 operating as FTN1 arrived from Statesville Regional Airport shortly before 2 p.m. and departed about an hour later for New Castle Airport in Delaware. The aircraft returned to Lynchburg shortly after midnight, putting another Victory Air charter movement into the week's activity.

Citation II N49U departed Lynchburg during the morning for Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport in North Carolina and returned late in the evening from Myrtle Beach. PHI Health's EC135 N390PH was also active throughout the day on regional medical flights.
