Liberty baseball is returning to the NCAA Tournament.
The Flames received an at-large bid Monday to the NCAA Athens Regional and will open tournament play Friday against Boston College at Foley Field on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Liberty (41-19), seeded No. 3 in the regional, will face No. 2 seed Boston College (36-21) with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. National No. 3 overall seed Georgia and LIU round out the four-team regional field.
The selection marks Liberty’s first NCAA Regional appearance under second-year head coach Bradley LeCroy and the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth since the Flames also traveled to Athens for regional play in 2022.
The Flames enter postseason play after one of the strongest seasons in program history. Liberty finished second in the Conference USA regular-season standings with a 21-9 conference record and advanced to the CUSA Championship game before falling to top-seeded Jacksonville State on Sunday.
Liberty’s 41 victories tie the program’s second-highest win total in the last decade and place the 2026 squad among only seven Flames teams ever to reach the 40-win mark. The program previously reached that milestone in 1983, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2019, and 2021.
One of the biggest strengths for the Flames this season has been their performance away from Lynchburg. Liberty enters the NCAA Tournament with a 19-6 road record — currently the sixth-best road mark in the country.
The NCAA Regional appearance will be the ninth in program history for Liberty baseball. Previous regional appearances came in 1993, 1998, 2000, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
