Gas Prices Ease Across Virginia, but Lynchburg Continues to Climb

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Gasoline prices took a different turn across Greater Lynchburg this week, with the City of Lynchburg posting another increase while every surrounding locality tracked by Lynchburg Agenda recorded modest declines. Elsewhere across Virginia, prices generally moved lower after several weeks of steady increases.

According to a Monday afternoon snapshot from GasBuddy, the City of Lynchburg averaged $3.69 per gallon for regular gasoline, up 10 cents from last week. Amherst fell 10 cents to $3.89, dropping below the $4-per-gallon mark after briefly approaching it last week. Appomattox slipped one cent to $3.82, Bedford declined nine cents to $3.63, and Rustburg eased two cents to $3.83.

Across Virginia, every market tracked by Lynchburg Agenda posted lower prices. Alexandria remained the highest-priced market at $3.86 per gallon, despite a three-cent decline. Charlottesville recorded one of the week's largest decreases, falling 22 cents to $3.67, while Richmond dropped to $3.57. Danville averaged $3.54, Roanoke $3.57, and Virginia Beach $3.59.

The City of Lynchburg was the only local market to move higher this week and now trails Amherst by just 20 cents, narrowing the gap after several weeks of larger increases in the surrounding counties.
