LYNCHBURG, Va. — A section of Concord Turnpike between Garnet Street and Winston Ridge Road will remain closed to through traffic until further notice as CertainTeed continues repairs to a broken private waterline serving its facility at 1801 Concord Turnpike.
City officials said the roadway will remain closed while the company completes repairs and evaluates the damaged waterline. Once the private utility work is finished, crews will begin restoring the roadway before it can safely reopen to traffic. No reopening date has been announced.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes. A detour via U.S. 460 and Campbell Avenue is recommended. Message boards and traffic control signs remain in place to direct traffic around the closure. Emergency vehicles will continue to have access through the area.
