Every local market remains below $4 despite mixed results across Virginia.
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Gas prices across Greater Lynchburg continued their gradual decline this week, with every local market tracked by Lynchburg Agenda (via gasbuddy.com) posting prices below $4 per gallon for regular gasoline.
According to a Monday afternoon snapshot from GasBuddy, the City of Lynchburg averaged $3.17 per gallon for regular gas, down six cents from last week's $3.23 average. Bedford remained the region's lowest-priced market at $3.54 per gallon, followed by Appomattox at $3.62, Rustburg at $3.69, and Amherst at $3.99.
The latest figures continue a downward trend that began after fuel prices surged across Virginia in May. While prices remain well below the highs seen just a few weeks ago, motorists are finding considerably different conditions depending on where they travel across the Commonwealth.
Among local markets, Bedford posted the largest decline, falling 12 cents from $3.66 to $3.54. Appomattox dropped 24 cents from $3.86 to $3.62, while Lynchburg slipped six cents and Rustburg declined eight cents. Amherst was unchanged at $3.99 per gallon.
Statewide, prices were more mixed. Alexandria remained the most expensive market tracked at $4.89 per gallon, although that represented a decline from last week's $5.14 average. Richmond edged down to $4.04, while Charlottesville fell to $4.19 and Roanoke also settled at $4.19.
Not every market saw relief at the pump. Danville climbed from $3.89 last week to $4.27 this week, while Virginia Beach increased from $4.08 to $4.34.
The continued decline across Greater Lynchburg means local motorists are now paying between 18 and 45 cents less per gallon than many drivers in larger Virginia metropolitan markets.
As always, prices can vary significantly by station and time of day, with warehouse clubs and membership retailers often posting prices below local averages.
