Residents can review plans, speak with project engineers and provide feedback on proposed roadway, sidewalk and drainage improvements.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Lynchburg residents will have an opportunity later this week to review plans and provide feedback on proposed improvements to Breezewood Drive during a public hearing hosted by the City of Lynchburg.

The hearing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Heritage Baptist Church, 219 Breezewood Drive.

City officials will present preliminary designs for the Breezewood Drive Improvements Project and answer questions from residents. Members of the public are invited to review project plans, meet with the project team and provide comments on the proposed improvements.

Attendees may submit written comments at the hearing or provide verbal comments to a stenographer. Comment forms will be available on-site.

The public comment period will remain open through July 10, allowing residents additional time to submit feedback after the hearing.

The project covers approximately 3,000 feet of Breezewood Drive near Lynchburg's western city limits and is designed to improve safety and accessibility for both motorists and pedestrians.

Proposed improvements include widening travel lanes to 10.5 feet, adding curb and gutter, constructing a five-foot sidewalk with a three-foot grass buffer along the west side of the roadway, and developing a closed drainage system. Plans also call for relocating an existing water main within the project corridor.

City officials said public comments received during the hearing and comment period will become part of the project's official record and help guide future design and construction decisions.

Residents unable to attend the hearing may submit comments by mail to:

Bret McMillan, P.E.
City of Lynchburg
900 Church Street
Lynchburg, VA 24504

Comments may also be submitted via email to Bret.McMillan@lynchburgva.gov.

The City of Lynchburg said accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency. Those needing assistance are encouraged to contact the city's engineering staff before the hearing.
