Fleet Services ranked 16th among North America's top public fleets and placed in the nation's Top 25 mid-sized fleets for a fifth straight year.
LYNCHBURG, Va. — The City of Lynchburg's Department of Fleet Services has again been recognized among the top public fleet operations in North America, earning the No. 16 ranking in the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) 100 Best Fleets competition for 2026.

The recognition marks the fourth consecutive year the department has been named among the top public fleets on the continent.
The NAFA 100 Best Fleets program evaluates public fleet operations across North, Central and South America based on factors including accountability, innovation, technology integration, operational efficiency, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Lynchburg's Fleet Services Department was also recognized for the fifth consecutive year in Government Fleet magazine's Leading Fleets program. The department ranked No. 19 among mid-sized fleets nationwide, securing a place in the publication's Top 25 Leading Fleets for 2026.
City officials said the awards reflect ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, embrace new technology and provide reliable service across a fleet of more than 800 vehicles and pieces of equipment.
"Our daily priority is to ensure that we provide dependable, safe and cost-effective fleet operations that support City services, and the honors we receive are only a testament to the excellence we deliver every day," said Ken Lett, director of Fleet Services.
The department supports a wide range of municipal operations, including public safety, public works, utilities, parks and recreation, and other city services.
Officials say Fleet Services continues to invest in preventative maintenance programs, technology upgrades, sustainability initiatives and data-driven decision making. Those efforts are designed to reduce vehicle downtime, improve operational performance, lower emissions and maximize value for taxpayers.
The department manages and maintains more than 800 vehicles and equipment assets used throughout the city.
