Breakfast dates have become a tradition for my husband and me, and My Dog Duke’s Diner continues to be a delightful place to spend a relaxing morning together.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the smiles of the diner’s sweet waitresses. We were seated by a window, where the natural light made for a bright, welcoming start to our meal. Although the restaurant was quite busy, it never felt overly loud, and the atmosphere made it easy to settle in and enjoy our time together.

I ordered a seasonal pumpkin latte, which was a highlight of the morning. It was served hot without whipped cream and had just the right amount of sweetness — not as sugary as some lattes can be. My husband opted for his usual black coffee, which he enjoyed.

One thing I appreciate about My Dog Duke’s is that the staff doesn’t rush you through your meal. There is time to sit, sip your coffee and enjoy the experience rather than feeling hurried out the door.
For breakfast, I chose the French toast with a side of turkey sausage. The French toast came with what tasted like a homemade sweet cream butter that was so delicious it hardly needed syrup. The turkey sausage was flavorful without being overly spicy, making it a nice complement to the sweetness of the French toast.

My husband went with a traditional breakfast of fried eggs, toast, and jelly, along with bacon that looked particularly appetizing. He also ordered grits without cheese. Unfortunately, this was the second time he had requested grits without cheese and received them with cheese instead. He tends not to speak up when something is wrong with an order, but it was a small disappointment worth noting. The grits themselves were enjoyable enough that I helped finish them and even brought some home.

Despite that minor hiccup, the service remained attentive throughout our visit, and the overall experience was a positive one.
Another thing I enjoy about My Dog Duke’s is its seasonal menu. In addition to the pumpkin latte, I spotted an apple caramel Irish coffee that caught my eye. That is on my list to try during our next visit.

Before taxes, our bill came to a little over $40, which felt reasonable for the two of us and the breakfast we enjoyed.
My Dog Duke's has become our go-to spot for a breakfast date, and it is easy to see why. Between the welcoming service, comforting food, seasonal drinks, and relaxed atmosphere, it offers a pleasant way to start the day. Next time, I think we will switch things up and give the lunch menu a try.
