This Week at Lynchburg Regional

Business aviation at Lynchburg Regional Airport ranged from a Gulfstream V and Bombardier Challenger 3500 to Citation jets, Cirrus Vision Jets, Pilatus PC-12s and a civilian Black Hawk during the week of Aug. 24-30.

The week opened with a Gulfstream V operating as TWY5245 making a three-hour visit from Norfolk on Monday. A Cirrus Vision Jet also arrived from Norfolk, while a former U.S. Army Sikorsky UH-60A+ Black Hawk operated from Lynchburg during power-line work in the region.

Citation activity picked up as the week progressed. Locally based Citation Excel N936EA made multiple trips involving Concord, Washington Dulles, Asheville, Charlottesville and the Boston area. Citation CJ2 N207MM, registered to MMG Insurance Co. of Maine, visited on three consecutive days, including quick turns to northern Maine and New Hampshire.

Thursday's standout was Challenger 3500 N135CG, which arrived from Savannah shortly after noon and spent nearly six hours at Lynchburg before returning to Georgia. Friday brought one of the week's busiest mixes of business aircraft, including a Citation CJ3, Phenom 300, Citation CJ1, Citation II, Citation Excel and two Pilatus PC-12s.

The weekend was quieter. A PC-12 departed Saturday morning after an overnight stay, while Sunday's activity included a Citation Mustang arriving from Maryland's Eastern Shore and locally based Citation II N49U making an evening round trip to the Charlotte area. An unidentified aircraft using the call sign BB102 also stopped at Lynchburg Sunday while traveling from Teterboro, N.J., to the Atlanta area.

Sunday brought two notable jet visits to Lynchburg. A Citation Mustang arrived shortly after noon from Maryland's Eastern Shore, while an unidentified aircraft operating as BB102 arrived from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and departed a little more than an hour later for the Atlanta area.
