The nuclear energy company has invested more than $2.5 million in Central Virginia Community College initiatives focused on technical education, workforce development and student success.
Lynchburg – Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) and the CVCC Educational Foundation are honored announced that Framatome, Inc. has received the 20th Annual Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy. The company was nominated for the award by Central Virginia Community College in recognition of its longstanding commitment to workforce development, career technical education, and student success initiatives.
Hosted by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE), the Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy Luncheon was held in Richmond on April 22, 2026. The event brought together more than 200 guests to celebrate the outstanding philanthropic contributions supporting Virginia’s Community Colleges.
In his remarks, David Doré recognized the collective impact of the honorees. “The individuals and organizations we honor in this room represent an extraordinary $27 million in lifetime giving to Virginia’s community colleges,” he said.
Virginia Secretary of Education Jeffery Smith also emphasized the importance of philanthropic investment in student success. “Every Virginian deserves a pathway to economic opportunity,” he said, highlighting how donor support helps remove barriers for students pursuing education and workforce training.
Framatome was selected for its meaningful contributions to workforce development and its ongoing partnership with CVCC. Through strategic investments in career technical education, nuclear technology training, facilities, and student support initiatives, Framatome has helped strengthen the region’s education-to-employment pipeline and expand opportunities for Central Virginia students pursuing high-demand technical careers.
To date, Framatome has invested more than $2.5 million in support of CVCC programs, facilities, and workforce initiatives. Most recently, the company committed $400,000 over four years to support the Framatome Building on CVCC’s campus and advance the Nuclear Technology Academy.
“Framatome’s investment in career and technical education at CVCC is a model of strategic philanthropy. By aligning resources with student success, Framatome has helped CVCC build a resilient education‑to‑employment pipeline,” said CVCC president Dr. John Capps. “Their commitment to the Nuclear Technology Academy reflects a vision that benefits our learners, their company, and the broader Central Virginia community.”
