Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library to Host Bookmobile Bash at Miller Park

Bookmobile Celebration Planned July 30 at Miller Park

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library will celebrate the successful launch of the library's new bookmobile with a free community event on Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Miller Park near the Aviary, 401 Grove St.

The family-friendly celebration will feature story time, face painting, balloon art, kid-friendly activities, music, light refreshments, Kona Ice, and the Academy Center of the Arts AIM Bus. Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the new Lynchburg Public Library Bookmobile, which began serving the community in June.

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. If inclement weather occurs, activities will move inside the Aviary at Miller Park.

The bookmobile was made possible through a grassroots fundraising campaign led by the Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library, which raised more than $275,000 to purchase the vehicle without using taxpayer funds. The mobile library features its own collection of books and materials, public Wi-Fi, dedicated staff, and other resources designed to expand access to library services throughout Lynchburg.
