LYNCHBURG, Va. — Gasoline prices moved higher across Greater Lynchburg this week, with the sharpest increases occurring outside the city as Amherst, Appomattox and Rustburg all posted noticeable jumps compared with last Monday.
According to a Monday afternoon snapshot from GasBuddy, the City of Lynchburg averaged $3.39 per gallon for regular gasoline, up four cents from last week. Amherst climbed 25 cents to $3.74, while Appomattox also increased 22 cents to $3.74. Bedford rose 11 cents to $3.63, and Rustburg recorded the week's largest local increase, climbing 28 cents to $3.77 per gallon.
Statewide, Alexandria remained Virginia's highest-priced market tracked by Lynchburg Agenda at $3.79 per gallon, up 10 cents from last week. Charlottesville also moved higher to $3.75, while Richmond increased to $3.57. Danville and Roanoke both averaged $3.49 per gallon, and Virginia Beach rose to $3.60.
Despite this week's increase, the City of Lynchburg continues to offer some of the region's lowest gasoline prices, although the gap narrowed considerably as prices climbed across Central Virginia.
