Lynchburg Election Officials Recognized for Service During August Primary

City encourages residents to consider serving as election officers ahead of November General and Special Election

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The City of Lynchburg Electoral Board and Office of the General Registrar are thanking the election officers who helped administer the August 4 Primary Election.

Election officers play a critical role in ensuring elections run smoothly, from preparing polling locations before the polls open to assisting voters and helping ensure every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate.

“Every successful election depends on the commitment and professionalism of the citizens who serve at our polling places,” the City said. “Their dedication, integrity, and commitment to public service help ensure that elections are conducted fairly, accurately, and efficiently.”

With preparations underway for the November General and Special Election, the Office of the General Registrar is encouraging community members to consider becoming election officers.

Election officers assist with a variety of responsibilities, including welcoming voters, verifying voter information, assisting with voting equipment, and supporting the overall election process. No previous election experience is required, and training is provided.

Serving as an election officer provides residents an opportunity to serve their community while gaining firsthand knowledge of how elections are administered.
