Community survey open as city prepares long-term vision for growth, development, and investment
LYNCHBURG, Va. — The City of Lynchburg has released an updated draft of its Comprehensive Plan and is seeking additional public input as officials continue developing a long-term guide for the community’s future.
Required by the state, the Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for how the city approaches future growth, development, and investment. The plan outlines goals, objectives, and policies that help guide decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, parks and open spaces, tourism, sustainability, environmental priorities, urban growth, and other community needs.
The Lynchburg Planning Commission is overseeing the plan’s development process and is incorporating feedback from residents, businesses, and community stakeholders.
“Public participation and input from citizens are important in the development of the Comprehensive Plan,” the city said. “The needs and desires of the community help shape an effective plan that reflects Lynchburg’s future vision.”
An updated draft of the Comprehensive Plan is now available for review, and residents are encouraged to complete a community survey before the final draft is prepared.
