Shelter Seeks Adopters and Foster Families After Several Dogs Arrive from Single Property
The Lynchburg Humane Society is asking the community to help relieve crowding at its shelter by adopting or fostering dogs during a special Independence Day adoption event.

Now through Saturday, July 4, the shelter is offering its "Spaced Out Special," reducing adoption fees for most dogs to $20, while adoption fees for VIP dogs have been cut in half.
The promotion comes after Lynchburg Humane Society received six dogs from a single residence this week. The animals were brought to the shelter by Lynchburg Animal Control as part of an ongoing investigation. Shelter officials say additional dogs may still arrive.
"We need our community's help right now to get dogs out of the shelter," said Claire LeFew, the organization's development and communications manager. "We have so many wonderful dogs available for adoption or foster now that would love to go home with adoptive or foster families."

The shelter is encouraging residents who are unable to adopt to consider fostering, which provides temporary homes for animals while creating additional space for incoming pets.
Available dogs, including those designated as VIP adoptions, can be viewed on the Lynchburg Humane Society's website. Prospective adopters and foster families may also visit the Center for Pets on Old Graves Mill Road to meet the dogs in person.

For questions about any specific pets, interested adopters can reach out to the adoption team at adoption@lynchburghumane.org, and interested fosters can reach out to foster@lynchburghumane.org.
