Rescue 5 crews responding to a crash Wednesday night shifted gears to free a cat wedged under a neighbor’s garage door before it sprinted safely back home.
Members of the Forest Volunteer Fire Department came to the rescue of a neighborhood cat Wednesday night after the animal became trapped beneath a garage door.
According to the department, Rescue 5 crews had just responded to a motor vehicle accident shortly after 9 p.m. when they were alerted to an unusual situation involving a cat stuck under a neighbor’s garage door, where a gap existed between the door and the floor.
Firefighters quickly worked together to secure the cat and prevent further injury while carefully opening the door to free the animal.
Once rescued, the cat reportedly wasted little time — immediately running back home.
The department shared details of the rescue on social media, calling it one of the more unusual calls of the evening.
