Participants completing the program will be honored June 3 for their commitment to recovery, accountability, and rebuilding their lives.
The Lynchburg Adult Recovery Court will honor several participants who have successfully completed the program during a graduation ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Lynchburg.

The event will recognize individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to overcoming substance use disorders and rebuilding their lives through the Recovery Court program.
Recovery courts provide treatment-focused alternatives to traditional criminal justice processes for individuals struggling with addiction. Nationally, more than 150,000 people enter the criminal justice system each year due to addiction-related issues. Recovery courts connect participants with treatment, accountability, and support services designed to help them achieve long-term recovery and reduce recidivism.
The Lynchburg Adult Recovery Court is a collaborative initiative involving the Central Virginia Health District, Horizon Behavioral Health, Lynchburg Circuit Court, Lynchburg Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Lynchburg Public Defender’s Office, and the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Councilman Dr. Sterling Wilder will serve as keynote speaker for the ceremony.
Other expected guests include Vice Mayor Curt Diemer, State Senator Mark Peake, Circuit Court Clerk Todd Swisher, Lynchburg Sheriff Don Sloan, Lynchburg Police Chief Kenneth Edwards, retired Judge Edward Burnette of Liberty University School of Law, and Nelson County Circuit Court Judge Michael Doucette, former Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Lynchburg.
The graduation ceremony will be held at 900 Church Street and is open to invited guests and supporters of the program.
