Families across Lynchburg will have access to free meals for children this summer through the Lynchburg City Schools Summer Food Service Program. The federally funded initiative will provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks at community centers, churches, schools, parks, and other locations throughout the city.

The program begins June 8 and is open to all children regardless of family income. Meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis, and children must remain on site while eating.
Among the participating community locations are Faith Assembly, West Lynchburg Baptist Church, Riverside Park, the Lynchburg Public Library, Boys & Girls Club, several city neighborhood centers, and a variety of nonprofit and childcare organizations. Most sites will operate through late July or early August, with some offering breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
In addition, Lynchburg City Schools will provide breakfast and lunch to the public during its summer school programs. Elementary, middle, and high school sites across the city will offer meals during designated periods in June and July.
The program is designed to ensure children continue to have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session.
