The website combines weather, local reporting, national news from FOX News and sports from ESPN, with Lynchburg Agenda contributing hyperlocal coverage from across Greater Lynchburg.
Virginia Talk Radio Network is promoting a refreshed version of The Lynchburg Portal as a one-stop digital destination for information that area residents once routinely found in the morning newspaper.
In a new radio campaign, listeners are being encouraged to bookmark TheLynchburgPortal.com on their computers, tablets and smartphones.
“You will find useful information that used to be in the morning paper and more,” the radio spot says.
The website brings together weather updates from Matt Ferguson, local news from Bill Trifiro and Lynchburg Agenda, national headlines from FOX News and sports coverage from ESPN.
The spot closes by describing The Lynchburg Portal as offering “stuff that used to be in the morning paper,” reflecting the continuing shift in how local residents receive news, weather and other daily information.
Lynchburg Agenda brings an established and growing source of locally produced reporting to the Portal. The independent publication covers Lynchburg and Amherst, Bedford, Campbell and Appomattox counties, with recurring coverage of local government, business, real estate, restaurants, health inspections, schools, health care, nonprofits, people, high school sports and other community news.
Since launching in April 2024, Lynchburg Agenda has experienced significant local audience growth while developing a loyal weekly readership. Its free Tuesday morning newsletter consistently records an open rate above 50 percent, while thousands of readers visit Lynchburg Agenda’s website each month, with readership increasingly extending throughout the week.
The partnership expands the reach of Lynchburg Agenda’s reporting while giving The Lynchburg Portal another source of locally produced news and information from across Greater Lynchburg. Together with weather, national news and sports, the refreshed Portal is designed to give area residents a single destination for information throughout the day.
