Liberty Wins Weather-Shortened Quad Match at London Downs; Baxter Shoots 35

Amherst County's Caitlyn Baxter earns medalist honors with three birdies over nine holes as storms shorten Monday's four-team match.

Liberty High captured a weather-shortened four-team match Monday at London Downs Golf Club, while Amherst County senior Caitlyn Baxter continued her unbeaten start to the high school season.

The match, hosted by Heritage and originally scheduled for 18 holes, was shortened to nine after late-afternoon storms moved through the area.

Liberty posted a four-player score of 174 to take the team victory, two shots ahead of Rustburg at 176. Amherst County finished third at 183, while Heritage shot 207.

Baxter earned medalist honors with a 1-under 35 on the par-36 front nine at London Downs. She recorded three birdies during the round.

The performance follows Baxter's victories at both of Greater Lynchburg's major opening-week tournaments. She shot a 2-under 70 to win the Raider Invitational at Falling River Country Club and followed with a career-best 5-under 67 to capture the John Scott Memorial at London Downs.
