University of Lynchburg sophomore fires tournament-low 66 to take control entering Sunday
Super Senior Jeff Crosier aces hole 13
Round 2 at the Fox Puss Invitational delivered a shakeup atop the Open Division leaderboard, as University of Lynchburg sophomore Dylan Olinger surged into the lead with a five-under 66—the low round of the tournament.
Olinger’s round featured seven birdies against just two bogeys, giving him a one-shot edge over first-round leader Cabell Faulkner heading into the final round.
Faulkner appeared in control early, sitting at two-under on the day before a stumble at the par-3 13th. He steadied with three straight pars, but closing bogeys on 17 and 18 dropped him just off the pace.
Lynchburg’s Luke Libbey remains firmly in contention, tied for third at one-under alongside Andrew Gregory, just two shots back. Libbey, Olinger, and Faulkner will headline the final group, teeing off at 2:20 p.m.
Senior Division
Robert Mason and Bowen Sargent share the lead at +2 after contrasting rounds. Mason fired a one-under 70, while Sargent followed with a 73 to stay atop the leaderboard.
Friday leader Pete Barbera saw a dramatic shift, backing up his opening 68 with a 77 on Saturday. His round included two separate stretches of three consecutive bogeys, opening the door for the field.
Boonsboro member John Jordan carded a steady pair of 73s and sits tied for fourth at +4 with Donnie Toney and Scott Richards. Jordan’s round featured a bounce-back moment, recovering from a double bogey on 13 with an eagle on 16.
Super Senior Division
Jeff Crosier carries a two-shot lead into Sunday at +3, highlighted by the shot of the tournament—a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th that erased the damage from five bogeys.
Jack Allara and Allen Barber sit two shots back, while Tim Vigotsky and first-round leader Jeffrey Flax are three behind at +6.
Flax mirrored Barbera’s reversal of fortune, following an even-par 71 on Friday with a 77 in Round 2.
Golf balls are already in the air for the final round, with ideal conditions—65 degrees and sunny—setting the stage for what should be a strong finish at Boonsboro.
